Faculty of Environmental Design

Faculty of Arts and Sciences

Placement tests for English and Spanish language courses are done online in form of a questionnaire. Placement tests for other language courses will be done in the form of an online interview. All level 1 courses are dedicated to students who have never taken a course in the relevant language. A placement test is required for students who wish to take English, Spanish and Arabic language courses.
Other type of virtual exchange
Graduate students who wish to participate in a virtual exchange can visit the regular course offering for more information regarding the teaching modalities for each course. Your application will be reviewed by each academic unit. Please not that submitting an application does not guarantee your admission to the program.

Language proficiency
The usual level of French required to take courses at UdeM is B2. Some readings may be in English for some courses, such as science or psychology courses. The Faculty of Arts and Sciences therefore requires a working knowledge of English for reading.
Course enrolment
Students may choose from 1 to 4 courses from the list above. Their choice of courses and their eligibility will be validated according to the relevant study programs of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. An academic advisor will contact students to finalize their course enrolment.
Faculty of Law
Course offering
All of the Faculty of Law's courses are offered as part of a virtual exchange during the winter term 2021, except for the Master in Business Law in a Global Context.

Faculty of Medicine
Only the Department of Microbiology, Infectiology and Immunology of the Faculty of Medicine will take part in virtual exchanges.

In addition to the courses included in this list, individual instrument courses may be offered (depending on availability) to students whose applications come from institutions with which there is a faculty-level agreement. Students can also choose courses from different programs.

Students who wish to apply for a virtual exchange at the Faculty of Music must note that :
- There are 3 types of teaching:
- Individual (instrument and composition)
- Small group (chamber music, composition workshops, etc.)
- Lectures and large ensembles.
- Individual lessons (instrument, composition) as well as Jazz Combo ensembles are not open to exchange students, unless students are from institutions with which there is a faculty-level agreement, if their level meets requirements and if there are places are available.
- Students wishing to register for instrument workshops will need to provide an audio or video recording with their application (please indicate a WeTransfer or YouTube link in your letter of intent).

Students will be enrolled to courses according to the places available in each course. Admission to a course will depend on availability of places. Most of the courses at the Faculty of Music are live and may not be recorded for students to consult outside the regular course schedule (students must take into account the time difference with Montreal).
School of Optometry
No courses are offered as part of a virtual exchange in the winter term 2021.
Faculty of Pharmacy

School of Public Health

Language proficiency
Students whose first language is not French must provide proof of French proficiency of B1 or higher. Students who wish to take French as a second language courses will be asked to take an online placement test. This test may also be required for translation and journalism courses. Knowledge of the French language is essential for all courses (except for FRSxxxx courses)
Course enrolment
Your application will be reviewed by the Faculty of Continuing Education and your acceptance will depend on the number of available places in the chosen courses and your academic standing. Graduate students’ applications will be prioritised.
