UdeM's UN Delegation

The Université de Montréal United Nations Delegation has been participating in the National Model United Nations (NMUN) conference, held in New York City, since 1980. This activity, officially recognized by the United Nations, puts participants in real-life working situations of UN committees. Bringing together more than 4,000 students from some 50 countries from every continent, this type of simulation is the largest in the world.

In addition to familiarizing students with the procedures, standards, and operations of international agencies, these exercises help delegates deepen their knowledge about the positions of the countries they represent in one of the simulated committees.

This year, a delegation of 37 students represented Russia – a real challenge given the current tensions in this country. Université de Montréal had tremendous success: it won the Outstanding Delegation Award for a third year in a row, as well as 22 individual awards.
