Workshops and Fieldwork WAT_UNESCO around the world!

WAT_UNESCO workshops and fieldwork have been held annually since 2003 by Université de Montréal’s UNESCO Chair in Landscape and Environmental Design in various regions of the world (Europe, Maghreb, Middle East, and Asia). They bring together an international network of more than 20 academic institutions to solve urban planning issues related to major social, cultural, and environmental issues.

Each year, the CUPEUM organizes these workshops around the theme of developing urban peripheries. The workshops offer an opportunity to reflect on the future of cities.

They act as a unique meeting place for international experimentation by bringing together over 40 students in architecture, landscape architecture, urbanism, and geography from different regions of the world, as well as a panel of international experts and professors, to create viable urban planning scenarios for the local communities involved.
